Elizabeth & Dave’s Wedding at Notley Abbey

Ah, a breath of Californian sunshine in the Buckinghamshire countryside. In September as well.

We spend a lot of time and effort keeping our website and blogs up to date (well, reasonably up to date) and it was great to know that it works – Elizabeth found us from her home in California through Google!

I knew this was going to be a great wedding the minute that we met Dave and Elizabeth at our studio and so it turned out to be. They were married at Penn St. Church and had there reception at Notley Abbey which is very close to us – and is utterly stunning.

The weather? Well, what can I say about the weather? Given our pretty dramatic summer, you’d be forgiven for thinking a couple from California were nuts for choosing an early autumn UK venue for their wedding! However, fortune favours the brave as they say and it couldn’t be more true. It was pretty funny to see a crowd of people used to very hot weather, sitting in an English church trying to keep cool by using the orders of service as makeshift fans!

I am not sure what our American guests made of it all (particularly the formality of an English wedding) but with two gorgeous (and very old) venues, glorious sunshine and a beautiful couple who could not be more in love, it was truly a wedding that Richard Curtis could write a film about! Stunning!

Absolutely fantastic pictures! Paul is by far one of the best photographers we have met and an absolute pleasure to work with. I personally love the bokeh in his images (where the background is all blury) it just draws you to what is important.

Ok – so I know I’m a little biased – but Paul : thank you. Everyone couldn’t say enough good things about you – and considering we had guests from three continents, I think that’s pretty good going! Neither Elizabeth or I doubted your abilities and these photos show just how right we were. Can’t wait to see the others.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!!! We love the pictures, and can’t wait to see the rest. You have an amazing talent, not just behind the camera (which is obvious) but with the way you make everyone, not just your clients, completely comfortable, welcome and at ease when being photographed. All the best to you and Sarah!!

Thank you! I’m so glad everyone enjoyed the day – loved working with you and your inter-continental crowd! We can’t wait to show you the rest of the images as these few really are just the tip of the iceberg. Looking forward to seeing the video from the guys at Minty Slippers too – should be awesome! Can’t believe how lucky you were with the weather either. Someone was looking after you! See you soon, cheers Paul and Sarah

Thank you Danny! Blimey, that’s a hell of a compliment – particularly from these guys as they, too, were clearly passionate about capturing the best possible footage from the day. Can’t wait to see the final video as I think what they will have caught in moving images is exactly what we’re trying to achieve in stills – dynamic, natural, beautiful pictures that capture just a little of what such an amazing day is all about! And in their case, with some sound as well! :) Brilliant!

OK, so I’m beginning to blush now. Thank you Elizabeth so much for possibly the most important feedback of all – that the bride is happy! I can’t tell you how much we are enjoying working with you and Dave and how much fun we had on your day with you both, your guests, the venue and the video team – it was truly spectacular! We could not have wished for a nicer client :)

We’re busily working through the images (and these really are just the tip of the iceberg) and can’t wait to show you the rest!

Hope all is well in California and that you’re loving married life :) Take care, cheers P. & S.
