Ah bliss. It’s that time of year when the sun comes out (and hopefully stays out) and there’s once more the regular, dulcet tones of wedding bells, readings from “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” – you know, the bit that makes all the kids in the congregation snigger (as my nan would say) – Pachabel’s Canon in D and the thwack-fizz liberation of champagne corks. Yes, it’s the beginnings of another summer wedding season!

We were up near Rugby on Friday captured the wedding of Claire and Kevin who we first met at a lovely wedding we photographed last year: Anna and Scott. Claire is one of Anna’s best friends and was one of Anna’s bridesmaids so this time the roles were reversed.

Kevin and Claire were perfect as a couple to photograph. Both are just great company to be around and are really photogenic (see their pre-wedding shoot as well) and their wedding day was everything you’d wish a wedding day to be – and the sun shone pretty much throughout!

The venue, Wethele Manor, was absolutely beautiful – particularly so in the sunshine. And, coupled with the crowd they’d invited, made for a fantastic atmosphere – that and the copious quantities of champagne!

This day had so many things that made it one to be remembered – the stunning weather, a beautiful church, loads of guests who made us laugh (and, on the whole, didn’t abuse is too much), a flower girl who was more than a match for any photographer (see right), an awesome location, a great DJ (who was really into – and knowledgeable about – the music he was playing and could react to the crowd) and, most importantly, a bride and groom who simply wanted everyone to enjoy the day as much as they did!

Oh, and for the first time in a long time, I was caught a little on the back foot as some of Claire’s nursing colleagues set up a surprise guard of honour complete with crossed crutches. Priceless!
